I just returned from the Best Friends Animal Society’s No More Homeless Pets Conference in Vegas. It was a wonderful experience and one that I plan on attending every year. I met great contacts from New York to California and came away with so many doable ideas and ways to meet challenges in every aspect of sheltering and rescuing animals. I was especially happy to attend some sessions given by trainers who work in shelters and have implemented such great programs to help dogs keep their homes. Someone from Best Friends back in 07 had the same idea that I had! Fix their problems and keep them in forever homes. There was just mounds of stories about successes that made me feel that we all could work together to attain that goal of finding solid homes for the animals.
