In 18 years as a veterinarian I
have seen the extremes of dog behavior.
Rottweiler's can be difficult dogs to train. All the dogs I have seen for Pat
Maistros have been well trained and well behaved. Even her newest rescue, Leo,
is a pleasure to work with already.

I just want to personally thank you Pat for all you have done for us and for
Chip. We moved into a townhouse from our home and I worried so much about Chip
on how he would adjust and "behave" in a close environment. You taught him the
basic commands which in turn has helped him and us adjust to this move. We still
have a long way to go, but we definitely see an improvement.
After all, look at
what he did when you left after our last session, he basically said in his own
way,
" look at me and what I know…" as he stayed away from the door and sat.
You have a love for dogs Pat, and it shows. Thanks so much for all you do….

Pat has truly been a lifesaver for our family! We
adopted our Sammy from a local shelter and once we brought her home we quickly
realized we needed expert help in training her.
The in home visits provided us with personal advice on how to establish life in
our home. Pat gave us weekly instructions and a daily chart for our
children to focus on so we were all on the same page, using the same commands.
She involved the entire family in this process which was invaluable.
She gave us new ideas each week on how to use Sammy's natural instinct to the
best of her ability in a constructive way.
We highly recommend A Bark Away Dog Training for everyone!! Pat's
knowledge of animals was a true blessing for our family! |

I don’t
know what we would have done if we hadn't found Pat. We just didn't
know what to do with our little Italian Greyhound, Sarah. She wasn't
like any other dog we had. Pat is a terrific trainer!!! In 8 weeks
she turned Sarah around, and us too. We want to thank you for all of
your help!

Apollo
was a great dog from the beginning, but began to develop some issues
that we needed to get under control fast. The feedback that you gave
from the initial conversation soon proved to be exactly what we
needed to do to help Apollo!
Apollo hated his crate, jumped on all guests in
our home, was difficult to walk on a leash, and would not listen to
any command we gave him. While it seems like a lot of issues, you
gave us quick and easy tools and commands that helped within days of
initiating them! We made his crate a fun place to be, taught him how
to stay and obey the release, bought the right collar and used
consistent commands to help with the training. The results came
fast, but with a lot of hard work! We highly recommend A Bark Away
Dog Training to everyone! Pat has helped us on other fronts as well,
and we can’t thank her enough!

On behalf of our Family, we wanted to thank you
for your support in training our German Shepherd Puppy, King. As you
can probably remember from your first visit to our
home we introduced you to King, a puppy that was very difficult
to take for walks, climbed on furniture and did not listen to our
basic commands like stay. You immediately started to make progress
with King and provided us with valuable instruction on how to get
our puppy to follow commands. You came each week with specific ideas
that related to the behaviors of King that we were trying to change.
At the conclusion of the 8 weeks we are very pleased that King has
made dramatic improvement, is a pleasure to take on walks and
follows many basic commands. We look forward to working with King
to expand on the training and are confident we will have many
enjoyable years with our German Shepherd.

Pat
helped me with my pet, but it’s not the kind of pet you think! My husband and I
own a very smart and very sassy 3 year old Potbelly Pig! For about 2 years she
has been running the show in our home. We do not expect our potbelly to act like
a dog, but were desperate for some kind of guidance. Pat bravely took up this
new challenge, and showed us just by studying our behavior with her at our home,
what needed to change. I was very impressed with how perceptive Pat was, and her
techniques she showed us to handle our Potbelly, have already paid off! I would
highly recommend Pat Maistros as a trainer for anyone who needs a little help
with their dog/pet pig!!! :)

I had the pleasure of volunteering
at a local animal shelter with Pat. The dogs that come into shelters, generally
end up there for serious behavioral problems. I have seen Pat work wonders with
abused, neglected and behaviorally challenged dogs. She has done fantastic
things for these animals, turning them from un-adoptable dogs to adoptable
family members. I have also had the opportunity to take the Canine Good Citizen
class that Pat offers, which allowed my dog to pass the Canine Good Citizen test
with ease!

I
hope your doing well, with lots of good dogs to train... I enjoyed our time
together, your a terrific trainer, with lots of patience, and understanding...
and in our case you need both Patience & understanding for Riley's parents. But
I do believe your lessons have stuck with us, and Riley is coming along Great!
I think he's turning out to be a well balanced, yet fun dog... thanks to you
putting us on the right path in the early stages.
Thanks again,
Riley's parents.

PS:
The cat is now stalking Riley... its so funny to watch... So I guess... now we
have to protect Riley... what a hoot! |

When we first
adopted Duke, and (Pat) came to our home and worked with us, we were so grateful
for that one on one interaction. Now that Duke has taken the CGC class from
Pat, he is so much easier to handle. When we are out walking, people actually
recognize us and walk up to Duke to pet him! I ask him to sit and tell the
person to let him sniff their hand and then go ahead and pet him. He absolutely
loves being around people. He also loves children and they love him.
I
truly believe that the time Pat spent with Duke before and after we adopted him,
made him the wonderful pet he is today. Thank you for being such a great
trainer. Thank you for putting Duke on your website, it's so neat to see his
picture there!

Trainers Note* This dog had horrible mouthing, humping and leash pulling
behaviors at the shelter. He was adopted and enrolled in my class where he
received the CGC Certificate and rave reviews from his owners!!

I adopted Marty, a Cocker Spaniel who is blind, from the Parma Animal Shelter in
February 2006. He was 6-7 years
old at that time. I was single so Marty had the house to himself, including the
furniture and sleeping in bed. After re-marrying in October 2007, my wife and I
noticed Marty’s behavior changed. He became aggressive toward me and Arlene if
we tried to correct his behavior. We became frightened of his behavior when we
tried to remove him from bed and other furniture and not knowing how to handle
this, called Pat Maistros. She came to the house and corrected Marty’s problem
in a very short time! Actually the problem was more “us” than the dog. I did not
have control and he did. Since that issue was taken care of, Marty has been a
wonderful pet! Also, his blindness is really NO handicap! Thank
You.

We thank you for all the work you did for us and Kobe.
I’m sure if you didn't teach us how to train him he would still be a wild
dog. He still is full of energy but we know how to control him now. If we
ever need help with Kobe, and/or anyone we know needs help with their dog,
we'll be sure to send them your way!

"I met Pat through her work at
the local animal shelter. She encouraged me to enroll my Shayna in the
Canine Good Citizen class. The class was very helpful; Shayna
passed the CGC test and I learned some new skills for working with
dogs. I was so proud of Shayna when Pat asked us to assist with an at-home
training session for another client’s dog. The training Pat utilized with the
client taught me that another dog is often the best teacher. I used the same
technique I saw Pat model when I adopted another shelter dog named Gypsy. It was due, in part, to
what I learned in CGC class and Pat’s modeling that I believe the introduction
of Gypsy to Shayna went so well. Pat has helped me understand working with
shelter dogs, as they often come with their own unique set of issues and
previously learned behaviors."

Training
my dog was a bit of a challenge and trying to get him to get along with other
dogs was impossible
(The) training session went
really well and better than I had expected. My dog likes to pull when he goes
for a walk so my training lesson focused on this behavior. Pat taught me how to
control my dog by gentle reminders to let my dog know
to ease up. I plan to take more training lessons so I can learn more on how to
control my dog…to my amazement Pat had my dog playing with her dogs within 5
minutes. I couldn’t believe how well he got along with them and it only took a
mere 5 minutes. I would highly recommend Pat as an experienced dog trainer.

Thanks again for all of your help (with
Harley), I'm glad I found your website, I'm never going to forget
the day that I did...I came home to a chewed up notebook, throw rug
and wall paper ripped off the wall.
